Support Assistants Wanted at Långgatan in Umeå
The Disability Care in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through closeness and interaction.
Långgatan is a group home within LSS focused on intellectual disabilities. All residents live in their own apartments and share common areas such as kitchens and living rooms. The facility also has a large outdoor area that provides an opportunity for residents to meet and participate in various joint activities.
We are now looking for three support assistants with heart, commitment, and a desire to contribute to a safe and meaningful everyday life for our residents!
Your Responsibilities
You will work independently and together with colleagues and other professionals to strengthen the individual's ability to live an independent life based on their circumstances. Your approach is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and safety. You will provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the person's own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. Common tasks include supporting residents practically with cleaning, laundry, cooking, personal hygiene/care, activities, and medication management.
You will work on planning, executing, documenting, following up, and evaluating various aspects of the operations concerning quality, work environment, and economy, both individually and together with others. You are also expected to create and maintain structure to reduce the risk of threats and violence that may occur in the unit. Heavy lifting may also be required.
- Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights.
- Co-planning may occur with other units within disability care.
About You
We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or has other education that can be deemed equivalent. You should also have experience working in healthcare. It is an advantage if you have experience working with the target group and if you have experience with low-arousal responses in situations of threats and violence. We also view it positively if you have experience using TAKK/AKK. Personal suitability will be given great importance.
You have a good ability to collaborate and maintain a professional demeanor towards residents, relatives, and other stakeholders around our residents. You are engaged and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals as well as work with continuous improvements.
To communicate with residents, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and receive any medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
